Q: I am really into my wildlife photography but cannot afford a super zoom lens, I have a 300mm and am considering a teleconvertor. Has anybody had a experience with these and would you recommend them?

A: Do you know?

I went to the mall, outside of it to where I had a nice background and not a lot of people milling around. I got three photos taken when a security guard pulled up and told me that I could not take photos there! We thought it was a public place but he says it is private property. Rather than argue the point I just packed up my camera and we left. Fortunately I had this photo already taken. No one can tell where I am, not a single store is readable in the background. Ed asked him why we could not take photos there and the security guard said that it has something to do with crime control and possible terrorist activity! Good grief!!!

You wouldn't think that a security guard would be so opposed for picture taking outside of a mall..but you got a very nice one here..

There you are, Ann, living on the edge again! I had NO idea you were prone to terrorist activities! ROFLOL....yeah, you seem like such a threat! It does make you scratch your head....at least you got your SP, and avoided being arrested.

My husband brought up an interesting point he said, "People that have cell phones are probably taking pictures all the time without anyone realizing it.". The real terrorists are probably way ahead of the security guard in that regard.

First it was Petsmart, now the mall...are we truly a 'free' society? The shot turned out beautifully, very well done considering the fact that security was lingering!

Love your composition here, Ann! Am I the only lucky one. One time I'm at the SF airport and just going around the airport and taking photos. Nobody even bother to approach me or ask why I'm taking photo. I was really surprised.

This is a great SP Ann and I think you just ran into a security guard with power issues. I got kicked out of a state park once for taking images. The Ranger told me I was breaking the law and that he could take my camera. Of course I made some phone calls and found out that he was wrong. Anyway, I love your SP. Terrific lighting and a great crop!

So glad that you got it despite your security encounter. It is sad that there is so much fear that we have to stop just living sometimes.
