Afghanistan
No I did not take this picture it was taken Sept 09.
Some friends of mine are there and in the photo.
They are in an outpost and are shot at or have incomming rocket fire 2 or 3 time a week.
They are all SF and want to be there. Most are on their fourth tour and have seen the enemy and understand the need.

• One my friends injured his leg when a land mind went off. A dog that was running around him set it off. He is Ok and will be back to duty soon. Another hurt his back while diving from a rocket attack just landed in the wrong position. He is off combat duty and in a non combat zone until he can run 4 miles with full combat load. Then he con go back to his unit. He hopes to return soon. No one wants to leave their team short. Thank You Betty for your prayers.

Thanks for a wonderful trubute to our true protectors, the service men and women who risk their life for us. It is the stupid politicians we vote for who make their job much more dangerous.

We should all be so proud of these guys who have sacrificed so much of their lifetimes to stand between us and those who would destroy us eventually. A great photo. Thanks for sharing it, Joe. My prayers for them and their buddies who serve with them. I hope that our government will ensure their success and safety soon.

Looks like some customized weapons in the shot. I worked with a guy that went to Iraq in the First Gulf War, the second, spent time in Kosovo, and did Afghanistan for Naval Intelligence. I applaud them for their service.

Great shot!! Having been in Nam in 1968, I can relate to these men! No one really knows war until they have been in one. I hope they all make it back to "the world" safely. I have to wonder how they feel about the present political fiddling around about what to do next? They are in my prayers.

They are all heroes!! They are the reason we are free. Far away in Afghanistan risking their lives to keep us free from terrorists. And without saying much more, what on earth is wrong with our government? Playing games with Hollywood's elite while these fine men and women carry on valiantly . As Edmund Burke said, "All that's necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." Washington....wake up!
