Daybreak Without Bacon
Usually this stream is filled with anglers fishing for sailfish.
They never catch any.
Being the world's worst animal photographer, I'll fess up to the fair sized buck who stood to the right of the large rock in the background. As you can see, this was a really great photo op.
See him?
Nope, you can't, because I missed the shot.
I am the only person who can have a camera in hand and still miss every single animal that happens by.
It's amazing.

No.....and yes. But you still take amazing photos...we can't all be good at everything, and believe me, I find it very tedious, so you're lucky!!

Please keep posting these "missed" shots.
I wish the shots I missed were as nice.
No matter what this photo obsession of ours is a LOT about luck with a fair bit of knowledge and skill thrown in.
I love these stream shots of yours and often try to mimic them but still don't get it quite right. I work down around 1/4 or 1/2 second exposures. Tripod, of course. Still working at it, any hints ? -

You will get your animal, Kevin :-) Anyone who can capture the natural essence of our world is bound to eventually capture one; I can feel it coming!

Much better for your heart in the morning than bacon, anyway. And you will get your animal, I agree. As someone who has spent a lot of time shooting wildlife, pets and birds, I can say that at least 40% of it is sheer luck. And the pics I've missed have been some of my best! Don't despair...your day will come.

Lovely slice of this old-growth forest. I have been to Yellowstone 25 times and have never seen a moose. (Different story in Maine, however.)

Capturing animals is a lot about luck, too, and also spending a lot of time there, waiting for the right moment to appear. But you had your experience, and can carry that with you, the sight of the beautiful buck. I think I can see him, are you projecting right now? Anyway, you got a wonderful capture of the stream, and I love the fall colors.

If I could shoot the scenics you shoot, I would never take another animal shot. Fantastic scenic.
