Hessian's End

Hessian soldiers, acting as mercenaries, were all over these woods a few hundred years back.
For those of you with useless items stuck in your memory, Irving made the Headless Horseman of a Hessian soldier who lost his head to a cannon ball.
The British were also all over these woods, as were the Dutch explorers, but they were a superstitious lot, and left behind rumors of ghosts and hauntings for what seems every square inch of the place.
Looks peaceful enough to me.

If I were a ghost, that would be the perfect spot for me. A fantastic image!
