Silver gelatin pinhole photograph.
October 3rd, 2008.
Completely inundated by the overwhelming coverage by the media of the economic situation in our country, I decided to capture the emotion of the current events that gripped the nation. Everyone everywhere was affected by what was going on, gripped watching their television screens for the latest news. I did what everyone else was doing, sat back and watched history being made, only I set up a tiny pinhole camera to document. The exposures taken were always left to chance, the exposure time was a few minutes, so I was never sure what exactly would be captured. The process of taking these photos was strangely similar to our situation, which we could never quite guess the outcome of, no matter how hard we tried to predict, something that takes time. The eerie ambiguity of the images seemed like reflection of the confusing, muddled and messy emotions that we were all going through.
