A Vain Mockingbird
I love the Mockingbirds. They have a lot of spunk and are fearless when it comes to protecting their own. This little mockingbird is a bit of a pain though. He or she is very vain and loves to admire himself. He flies all over my car looking at his reflection in the windows and the side view mirrors. At the end of the day, my car looks like it was the portajohn at "The Birds" filming location. My husband washes the car and then moves it to another location in the yard, but I am sure this little one watches his every move. As soon as Shane has walked away, he is back to admiring himself. He is a funny bird.

Great story and nice image Regenia. I had a friend that bought a yellow VW and parked it in his driveway. I couple of days later he went outside to see little yellow birds exactly the same color as his car all over it. It was like they had found the mother ship. They hung around it all the time.

I love it!!! Your title is perfect, Regenia! This little guy has alot of character; kind of reminds me of a dog barking at himself in a mirror!

Love this. Maybe you should set up a big mirror. Might save your car.

If this was taken during mating and nesting season, the mockingbird was probably defending its territory and thought that he had a competitor, or the nest was in danger from this strange bird that he saw in the glass reflecfion. (That's how we got the term, "bird brain".) LOL

Hey, what would you expect from one that spends most of its time making fun of others? :)) There's a Carly Simon theme here, I know it. 'You're So Vain' or 'Mockingbird' will do just fine :)))

This is a great capture. It could be that he thinks your car is full of mockingbirds. :-)

"Hush little baby, don't say a word, Pappa's gonna buy you a mockingbird, and if that mockingbird don't sing, Pappa's gonna buy you a diamond ring!" Hope that mockingbird never sings!!
This little fellow must be a curious little bird. Poor Shane, having to clean the car again! -

I love Mockingbirds! This is an excellent capture! We have a lot of them here but they get real camera shy when I try to take a photo of them. Their songs are beautiful to hear : )
