It is funny how a smell can take you back in time. My youngest son ran past me smelling of shaving cream. The smell on him took me back to his early preschool days. On Friday's they would clean the tables with shaving cream and when I picked him up he smelled so wonderfully I could just bury my nose in his neck and breathe him in. Another smell that takes me back is that wet puppy dog smell. My boys always smelled like that after playing hard outdoors. Magic Markers remind me of my daughter. She loved to draw and wrote her name all over everything. She still smells that way sometimes.

I love this reminiscence!! Isn't it odd how simple smells can evoke a memory of Grandma's kitchen or something similar?

Cool shot and now I am remembering all the smells that take me back. Fresh cut grass and burning leaf piles take me wayyy back. I am sure there are a ton of others.

Scents that we smell can take us back to some wonderful memories. I have lost most of my sense of smell yet I can visualize a scene from my past and remember what the smells were - such as the smell of roses or how my granddad smelled when he got home from work. This is a very interesting SP Regenia : )

You are so right how different scents remind us of something in the past...I think the smell I love the most is bread baking in the oven.

That WAS what I thought it was. ;-) We have an issue on the island here with kids shaving-foaming cars at Halloween, so this year the Fire Department mad a giant Slip'N'Slide filled with foam for the kids to slide through. Sort of a "get it out of your system" deal - worked well.

Maybe, since the new JPG is not going to publish a magazine you can actually hold, they will institute 'scratch and sniff' so you can at least get a 'sense' of the photos!! Great shot, Reg!!

A very astute observation to go along with this creative capture. I smelled gingerbread one day last week, and felt like I was in my grandmother's kitchen. A great life savor.

Oh yes, shaving cream does it for me too, I can just see my Dad every time I smell it, standing at the mirror, white shirt, sleeves rolled up, white beard of shaving cream, pulling funny faces and smelling great, and me feeling warm and safe...Oh thanks for the memory Regenia...

Scents are very poerful at bringing memories of old. Mine is the smell of a summer evening just before or after a rins. When I was little and our baths were taknen,we had on our pajamas, then the entire family would sit on the front porch till bedtime. Just like in the Any Griffith show.. That summer rainy scent...when my family was all alive, and together...
