She said her name is "La Baby"
I met her at a taco stand in the middle of El Zócalo in Mexico City. She was interested in my camera and when she noticed that I snapped her picture she became very happy and excited.
In Spanish, she told me her name is Mercedes, but everyone calls her "La Baby" because she was the youngest of all her 16 brothers and sisters.
She asked her daughter, who was standing beside her, to give me her address so that I could mail her the picture I'd just taken of her.
When I got home from Mexico, I had her picture printed and mailed it to her right away in a beautiful gold frame.
I never heard from La Baby. I sure hope she got the picture and I hope it makes her happy.
