Blue Couch Green Wall

I noticed this strange juxtaposition while riding my bike on the bike path and came back another day to photograph it. Why such a blue couch was left behind such a green wall, I will never know. It was an image that I needed to capture on film.

I established a mood for this surreal scene by cross processing the tungsten film. Cross processing this film creates wild color shifts (see Point Street Power Station), but with these already saturated colors, the process actually softened them, creating the style I was aiming for.

Blue Couch Green Wall was was described as an "electric color study" on page E5 of the Providence Journal on 6/12/2008. You can read the article online here.

This photo was published by JPG Magazine in Issue 15 as part of my expired film story.

Juror Steven Holmes, Curator of The Cartin Collection, selected this image to be included in the Pawtucket Foundation Prize Exhibition at 245 Main Street in Pawtucket, RI from May 3, through June 28, 2008.

It was also featured at the 21st Annual Rhode Island Open at the Warwick Museum of Art from October 9 - November 3, 2007.

You can purchase this, and other photos of mine at mylatehope.imagekind.com.

Created using my 1950's AGFA Clack with 7 year expired Fuji T64 slide film cross processed with C-41. Negative scanned with an HP Scanjet 4890. No digital manipulation necessary!

I certainly couldn't be a professional brick wall photographer with the pincushion effect the Clack produces!!!

    ****UPDATE 9/1/2007****
The couch is no longer there! Damn, I wanted to take more photos of it. Perhaps that post-apocalyptic tech princess took it for her palace...
