Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
Then you are very brave to hold this thing...I often dream that I am being pursued or hurt and I try to scream and no sound will come out...
Love the photo:) -

Yikes. Nice shot.

nö said (5 Nov 2009):
oh, i dream that too, i scream and no sound comes out.. it gives a strange horrible feeling at the wake up...
oh and no self timer, i used someone almost the same size of me, put her on the chair, made the framing/focus and all, then i sat on the chair instead of her with the sticky stinky thing on my face and told her to push the red button... -

wrap it around the chop stick and swallow it completely...lol works for me without choking....
a nice fun pic...love the colors and the raw look. -
Anne Worner said (5 Nov 2009):
You have to add this vizualization to your dream: calamari fried in garlic butter - mmmmm :-)
-
Anne Worner said (5 Nov 2009):
Oh, and Kathleen can borrow my snake "Suzie" - when I was younger, I often dreamed of being chased by wolves or other monsters - in a dream I conjured up this huge mamba snake, named Suzie - she always came and fought my battles. A few times she hs come during my adult life also. Lesson in dream therapy over :-)

I am laughing at the interchange between everyone.....like a JPG soap opera:) Remnants of the last full moon and everyone getting antsy :)
I love this but think you should be braver and have put in on your head with the tentacles around your neckl :) ...Octopus do conjure that feeling of being choked don't they....hopefully always in a dream!
Anyway I love the shot and the thoughts behind it..... -
Penny Nannini said (5 Nov 2009):
could we just have a mud wrestling match and get it over with? all of the girls here want to watch!
art is subjective, it is supposed to evoke emotion...right??? -
Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
Holy fuc*ing batshit llorenc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ART IS SUBJECTIVE IS SUBJECTIVE..IS SUBJECTIVE...is SUBJECTIVE!
I'm going to have to say, that were I to look at the pola with the papers and without the papers, they would seem to be two completely different interpretations of something; I would most likely react DIFFERENTLY to each one...
If I put a straw in my wine, it tastes DIFFERENT to me.
but WHO CARES....it is fu$king subjective!!!!!!!!!!!
Good God...Where is Anne with my venomous snake????
This is crackers bs
noemi...your photograph is exquisite...and that is the POINT:) -
Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
ps llorenc...your "humble" opinion??????????? lolol
-
Tricia Louvar said (5 Nov 2009):
Wow, I came late to this party...hot pola damage goin on here...but nö, killer photo anyway....+++++
-
Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
For Penny:
Yes...you said a mouthful. Remember the other day...I kept posting and unposting a photo. In the end, my decision to not post it was based solely on the fact that it did not evoke a visceral response in me. It didn't make me feel anything...
Yes...evocative
And what evokes emotion in one person...may not evoke passion in another....hence, it is subjective.
Waiting for the snake:) LOLOL -
Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
llorenc...time does not change what human beings respond to emotionally...with their hearts. What stirs the passions will always be subjective and will always be inherent...I think you are losing sight of the fact that people look at and create art to be MOVED!
You cannot simplify or compartmentalize people's personal reactions to things...because other people's personal reactions to things do not belong to you...nor do they require your interpretation...
IT IS what IT IS
I agree with Penny.
For Nick: Yeah...I like to "Spy" blue things when I drive...:)

Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
PETEY!!!!!:)
lolol -
Penny Nannini said (5 Nov 2009):
Llorenç
I also said that art is supposed to evoke emotion, which this did. The reason that the saying has been around forever is because it's true. Debate is good for learning as long as is doesn't get mean or hurtful.
bye bye -
Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
lol llorenc:)

Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
How do you guys make squiggly things underneath the "c"????
-
nö said (5 Nov 2009):
copy and paste kath , copy and paste :)
-
Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
lolololol!!!!!! I love you guys!
llorenc (even cutting and pasting is a challenge for me): I think for me it boils down to this:
Noemi created this wonderful photograph. Noemi wanted to leave the papers. That is enough, in and of itself. It is HER creation. -
nö said (5 Nov 2009):
lol thank you kathleen.
it was just a fun shot... nothing really serious in it... -
Chris Sanford said (5 Nov 2009):
Actually,Llorenç, sometimes the frame is an important part of the work - depending on the intention of the artist. If nö's concept for the image included the frame, then that is the way it needs to be considered... :>)
-
Anne Worner said (5 Nov 2009):
The frame stays: hiss, hiss, hiss!
-
Kathleen Mercado said (5 Nov 2009):
LOL ANNE!!!!!:):):):)
Love you my sweet sista noemi -
k. pasa? k. pasa? gave props (5 Nov 2009):
i love that you post another dream! and what a nightmare of a debate it sparked. very entertaining indeed. when i peel my images the paper sticks to the edges many times. i'm not such a prick for perfection as to peel it all neatly off. i could be taking another photograph. i love the papered edges and just because they're there hasn't a damn thing to do with being a pretentious poser. anyway, no i am most impressed with what great great light you have in all your polaroids. especially with the silk film. i swear you do not at all appear to be a novice with the polaroid. i've had poor poor results with exposure, so far, and have posted some of the pola's from my 250 simply to have something to share for our dream theme. it's been mildly frustrating for me, but i will keep trying to get it right because your images are inspiring me to keep trying. i am determined to figure my polagirl out.

this polaroid "paper" on or off debate was like a disagreement you'd get in with your old, grumpy grandpa... and now grandpa has sobered up and sauntered quietly away.
