november 9 (1938) *
* the photo shows the entrance of a jewish department store which was plundered and totaled in the night of november 9, 1938. the so called 'night of broken glass'. at the opposite side of the street the berlin main synagoge was burnt down the same night.
the photo was taken in 1988 when the oranienburger strasse still was a part of eastberlin. the building got almost demolished in 1944 by bombs and wasn't rebuilt until today.
