Q: I've noticed that five of my uploads have " Hot" in front of the caption. Why are they caterogized that way ?

A: Do you know?

There are over 70 historic cemeteries scattered throughout the countryside of Westerly. Brenda and I have been trying to track them all down before some of them become overgrown and lost to history. When we went looking for the Hall Ground we had to get the help of 91 year old Florence Madison to show us where it was located. She remembered playing amongst the stones as a young girl. Years ago the stones were removed and a shed built over part of the cemetery.

What a shame the stones were removed and no markers left of any kind. That just doesn't seem right. At least you have memorialized the place with your search. Nice find and story!

John, I wish you and Brenda continued success. The Eagle Scout-candidates here have restored some old cemeteries. The government will step up and replace stones for vets. This is a good looking shot, the kind I would try to capture.

This is really sad, John; the fact that these individuals final resting place receives so little respect. Much research and time must be involved in order to track these cemetaries down; my hat is off to you! This is the perfect entry

I find it very difficult to believe that people can be forgotten like this. What a crying shame.Something should certainly be done to mark this as a cemetary and to remember these people.A worthy entry to the theme and an image of great importance too!!!

How very sad that a lot of these places are being negleted and abused. They are trying to build an interstate system over our Indian Mounds!! I am glad you were able to find her to help you find it. It won't be long and she will be gone. You should do a book John. I bet people will try to help clean them up then.

This somehow seems like a desecration of hallowed ground. It is a perfect entry for the theme.
