Climbing the many stairs of Via Appia took us back to Piazza Novembre, the heart of Perugia, the capital city of the Italian region of Umbria. The arches of the aqueduct that carried water from Monte Pacciano to Piazza Novembre were originally built in the later half of the 13th century and were restored in 1516 by Vincenzo Danti. The remains of an Etruscan arch stands near the end of Via Appia.
