In such a blown out neighborhood, ravaged by successive waves of capitalist exploitation, it is rare to see a butterfly, or any insects. I was happy to see the sunflowers had created a welcome hang out for these tiny creatures. We need pollen lovers in our vegetable garden badly, to help with cross pollinating the zuchinni flowers and otherwise being awesome. This butterfly had a chunk taken out of it's wing, it had seen some shit. A West Oakland butterfly.
