In March 2008 I did a fashion shoot in a location in my university town. It was an area around a derelict building that is on the opposite side of the river to the docks.
In 2009 I returned to this location as part of my body of work 'Hunting For Bees' and was surprised to see the mess that occurred on the land.
Rubbish/trash was everywhere and lots of belongings. I later found out travellers had been living here and recently left.
There were sofas, a mound of nappies, tires etc.

I decided to go back and photograph some of these objects. There were a lot of children's toys. Why they abandoned so much stuff I don't know, but I found this toy interesting.
Obviously in a bad state, I think his facial expression is meant to be anger, obviously a villainous character, but the way his body is contorted and broke at looks as if he is in a lot of pain.

As far as I know all this stuff is still there, as it would be a pretty hefty clean up procedure, so these things have been left to nature... left to decay and are beginning to filter from their past owners memory.
