When I was a young artist growing up in the midwest piecing together life after living through a couple broken home situations this woman was truly an angel who swooped down and took me under her wing. She was my high school art teacher. My father had passed away from cancer shortly after I began photography school and I still to this day regret that I never made a portrait of him. Renee was diagnosed with breast cancer and fought it. In return she is 1/100 women who will never regrow her hair. Right now she cannot truly see that she is still a beautiful human being but I hope in time that she will realize that it's more than hair that makes a person truly amazing.
This was shot summer in my childhood backyard.
