Bummer, in my chosen architectural profession, yes it is mandatory.
California’s Title 24,establishes prescriptive and mandatory guidelines for construction methods, materials, equipment, and controls that are used in new construction and major retrofits.
California’s energy code is considered to be the most aggressive and best enforced energy code in the United States, and has been a powerful vehicle for advancing energy-efficiency standards for building equipment. Many specifications are performance-based, offering flexibility for designers.

You can handle it, LG. I was an English major but earned an M.S. later in life and that included a course in statistics! And it's a nice photo. The comp is just right.

I also want to thank you for confirming that a bridge is being built parallel to the Hoover Dam. Your company is designing it! I said in my photo of the Glen Canyon Bridge that traffic on top of the Hoover Dam had destabilized the infrastructure of that dam.

Well done, Litz! Perhaps Calif. can encourage other states to follow their lead in doing things right. I'm sure it is really tricky doing construction in an earthquake zone!

I agree with you, Don. Another thing also is that all the buildings now, new or renovation have to comply with ADA, it needs to be accessible to a handicap persons.

This is an excellent photo and well chosen for the theme. Sorry it is such heavy reading, but I am delighted that at least one State is enforcing these codes and hope that more follow. I also know that you are more than up to the task Litz!!!
