The Painted Hills in September

John Day Fossil Beds, Oregon

The claystone comes from Erosion...

The hills change color with light and moisture levels, especially late afternoon.

The Painted Hills Unit is huge...over 3,000 acres !

April through May is best for great light.

This is a good shot, but with some gray balancing it could be spectacular! I encourage you to look into histogram adjustment. Several of your images could be brilliant with a little tweeking. Good luck and keep up the good work.
