Blessed is he that readeth. and they that hear the words,.. and keep those things which are written therein for the time is at hand...
Revelation 1:3

This is an old mantle clock that was passed down to me..It was a wedding gift to my late grandparents on my mother's side of the family when they got married in 1907... Today I was dusting it and it gonged 12 surprised me because I have misplaced the key to it and had not heard it gong for several years.

Here is a little story about my grandfather:

Grandpa was a large framed man with the classical features and high cheek bones of a Swede. He was a very handsome and colorful imposing individual..His parents immigrated from Sweden when he was seven years old..

One of the family stories told to me as a child was of the vision that my grandfather saw of his departed grandfather whom he had never seen in real life.. Grandpa woke up to see the spirit form of his mother's father who lived in Sweden, sitting by his
bedside...He was smoking a pipe and had a red bandanna around his neck. He also noted the type of clothing that he was wearing. Grandpa was 14 at the time but he was very frightened and hid beneath his blankets..When he looked again the apparition had vanished..Later that day his mother received a telegram that her father had passed away the same time that my grandfather had seen his spirit which fit
the description of his grandfather.

The story is proof that there is a heaven and a paradise beyond death...

Andrea, the photos the last few months have gotten better and better and better, and this is probably my favorite. It is little wonder that the clock, ringing twelve times after having been silent all these years, would remind you of your grandfather, and his grandfather, and the oral traditions that have been passed down. Thank you for sharing this with us.

The velvet jacket gives this a Victorian ambience. The clock is fabulous, and I love the story. Wonderful SP.
