For many years, I have wanted to stop and photograph this abandoned house, but was either in a hurry or there was too much traffic to avoid. This morning, I finally stopped and took the shoot after a long wait...having to almost park in a ditch with the emergency flasher going...I was on a major highway.

With obstacles like that, yours could have easily become an abadoned car, Don!! KUDOS! Very nice image! I have had the same yearning to shoot a boat where there is absolutely ZERO place to park so I know the feeling, my friend! :~(

It was certainly worth the stop, Don!! This is a lovely photo, beautifully composed (especially under very difficult circumstances) , and with lovely colors. Very nice job, Don!

I am glad you took that opportunity to stop ....Interesting that the roof of this house doesn't look bad but the rest of it looks like it is deteriorating...Great shot...

Great find Donald. One has to wonder why people abandon houses and let them fall into disrepair.

Oh so glad you got this shot! Its a home in-waiting! I love old abandoned houses, such memories that must remain within the old walls. But with not many walls left standing the memories must disappear forever. Brilliant comp. D.

Congratulations for doing it. Perhaps you could stop on a Sunday or any other day when there is less traffic for a closer look. Outstanding shot. I wonder what it would look like in b/w.

It was worth the risk because this is a beautiful shot. I like the way the structure is framed in the front by the grasses and with the tall trees in the background. Excellent!

Now we need to see this interesting scene in the other 3 seasons. It would make a fascinating 4 part image. Nice work.

Shame it's on a major highway. Looks like a cool place to get close-ups of peeling paint etc. Nicely composed, layered between the grasses and distant trees.

I'm glad that you were finally able to get that photo Don - it is excellent!!! I see a view of downtown Houston that I would love to take a photo of but it is on a busy freeway with only an emergency lane to stop in and I fear it would not be all that safe of a place to stop unless you had a true emergency!

    Andrea,

What looks like a durable red roof is actually a rusted sheet metal roof!

Ditto the rest on glad you are safe. This is a grand shot, I have a weakness for the old, delapidated buildings. Some might say empathy in my case. ;-)

This is great - i can imagine the story you could create from images from inside it. Try and get in there someday if you can, some low saturation pics would be fantastic, early morning or late evening. Great work!
