I opened my blinds to see what the weather was doing and saw this Yellow-bellied Sapsucker on my tree in our front yard. They are very shy birds and if they spot you they run quickly to the other side of the tree. I have tried to get photos of them for a long time and never succeeded - until today : ). I poked my lens, set on 200mm, through the blinds and shot it through the glass window. I am thrilled that the bird pulled back its head for another round of pecking and I got this excellent shot of the bird!

Excellent shot, Ann. The bird is SO much like the bark of the tree, yet your capture of him is good.

Wow, I'm so impressed that you got such a great shot of this camera shy bird! It does almost blend in with the tree bark. Great shot, Mom!!

I can't believe how well he blends with the bark!! A terrific capture! And here I thought 'yellow bellied sap sucker' was just a term from those western movies!!! :~)

Good for you...I am glad you caught the bird before it went to the other side of the tree...When birds are shy they are very difficult to capture through the lens when they are moving and you got a sharp picture.
