How would you manage a mobile ice cream business in a location like rural Guatemala? This man straps an ice chest to the back seat of his motorcycle and a speaker and amplifier to the handle bars. He plays one of those catchy, repeating, ice cream vendor tunes that drive adults crazy and attracts kids like moths to a porch light. I admire the ingenuity and tenacity of small business owners like this man.

What an image. I remember when I lived in Brazil (mid-1950s), the ice cream vendors rode bikes and dispensed their goods from coolers strapped on the back fender. Very little has changed!

I have been trying to remember all morning what the ice cream was called. I think the word was "kibon" (in Portuguese). It has been 54 years, so my memory is hazy.

Thanks for sharing this. Yes, the ingenuity is to be admired. We so take our conveniences for granted. A nicely shot mono - a very good environmental photo.
