From the vantage point of our seats in the deHavilland Twin Otter, we could see miles of glacial moraine left by the leading edge of a retreating glacier amidst the sky-high peaks of Haines, Alaska. An hour seemed like a minute in this pristine environment; what a dichotomy when action taking place over hundreds of years results in such a dramatic impact.

Looking back at this I wish there was a sense of scale in this photo: you wouldn't be able to even see a person standing near the morraine!
