LEI-108 ~ This Is A Limited Edition ImageSchlumbergera or Yellow Christmas Cactus is possibly the second most popular houseplant for the holiday season. Schlumbergera is the correct botanical name for Christmas Cactus. They are also called Zygocactus which, at one time, was the proper botanical name. Christmas Cactus has been kept as a holiday houseplant since the 1800’s. They are originally forest cacti, growing as epiphytes at elevations between 1000 and 1700 meters (3300 to 5600 feet) above sea level in the Organ Mountains north of Rio de Janeiro in southeast Brazil, South America.
