My Hurt Locker
If you love an image (whether it's yours or someone else's) and want to make sure others get a chance to see it, you can “feature” it by choosing the “Spotlight” button.
When an image is Spotlighted, it receives enhanced visibility in premium spots throughout the site. Spotlighted images are rotated through these higher-visibility positions to ensure the best opportunity for the images to be seen by JPG users.
If you see a great photo that would make a perfect entry for one of our Shoot Out photo contests but it was uploaded by another user, now you can enter that photo in the contest and, if it wins, you get to share in the contest winnings.
Like a photo editor, if you've got an eye for great work, find it and submit it to a contest. If it wins, since you staked the entry fee, you'll take home part of the prize (the rest, of course, goes to the member who shot the image).

A picture of my husband who is an explosive ordnance disposal technician wearing the bomb suit. He, along with his EOD brothers, continually put themselves in harms way to disarm IEDs, the biggest threat to american forces overseas.
He has received the Bronze Star three times now. He is a strong leader who is admired by anyone lucky enough to work alongside him.
But his greatest attribute is his ability to love and nurture his family when he is home. After 12 years of marriage, he is as dedicated to the health and happiness of his family as he is to the incredible job he does. He has a heart full of love, compassion and sympathy ... and an unbelievable lust for life (and his wife!)
He is most proud of his involvement in molding our 7-year-old little girl into the beautiful soul she is blossoming into.
This man, and so many more EOD technicians, are incredibly well-rounded individuals who hold themselves to a higher standard than what was shown in "The Hurt Locker." They are not reckless adrenaline junkies incapable of being family men. They look out for each other, embrace their roles as husbands and fathers and know exactly why they do this job. It DOES take a special person to be an EOD tech!
For all those reasons and more, he (and the entire EOD community) are my heros.
