Q: My sister in-law recently gave me a Canon EOS 10D digital camera body. Having only used point and shoot cameras, what would be a good beginners lens to get for this camera? Should I get kit lens to start with?

A: Do you know?

A feast is made for laughter...For a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter. Ecclesiastes 10: 19-20
------------------------

The male Indigo Bunting,

A migratory bird

Carries beautiful word

In his transportation

Of God's creation.

He arrives in May...

Flying many miles

To do his hunting.

Here to feast

All summer at least.

Before he goes away,

He pays his dues

By leaving smiles

and e'en laughter

Bading us adieu

Waving wings of blue

In time e'er after!

Poetry by me AJP

---------------------------------------

I shot this picture May 25, 2009...I know I am jumping the season.
It is still winter here ...and I can hardly wait until spring to bring flowers and colorful birds instead of snow to cover the ground:)

The Indigo Buntings are pretty and they bring a lot of color with them. Our feeder is outside of our window which works good for my 200 mm lens. He was in the process of eating orange jelly when I shot this image.

Beautiful photo of the Indigo Bunting!!! I know that we have them here and I hope to attract them and other birds this spring. I am getting ready to put a feeding area of various types of feeders in my front flower beds and in front of a window. I bought some safflower wild bird seed this week that says Cardinals love it and squirrels hate it. I will have other things for the squirrels to eat : )

So beautiful, Andrea! A perfect capture. We had a big flock of them land in our back yard about 2 years ago in Feb. or March. They were never here before, and have not been back since. It was astounding to see them all. They stayed for about 3 days and traveled on. You are fortunate to see them every year.
