The famous radio telescope array in the New Mexico desert that many people have seen in the movie Contact. It is used primarily for radio astronomy to view radio emitting objects like quasars, supernovas, black holes, and cosmic radiation.

The longest field trip I took while in high school was to the VLA. It's one of my fondest memories and I never imagined someone could make such a dry, solitary place look so beautiful. I aspire to this level of photography. Thanks for bringing back that memory.
