What are good brands? What is easily portable, not too big and not very expensive?
What would you recommend to buy as a basic lighting set?
For portraits - including full body shots - and objects to begin with.
Strobes or continuous light?
Help this light virgin please!

Stick with this set up seems to work!...low light is where we see the most detail and no light is where blindness guides us.

Dear Light Virgin,
I am of the school of improvisation therefore torches, white umbrellas, plastic bags, lcd lights and natural light are what I use so can't really advise you but there are plenty on JPG with that experience whom I am sure can...Always love your quirky shots Lucy :) -

Thanks dear people. I'm much of an improviser myself and that often works just fine. However I would like some more control. At the moment I think strobes will be the best option.
