This photo was taken within the prison walls of Kilmainham Jail which served as a prison in Dublin, Ireland that closed down in the early 1900's. This famous prison holds a lot of Irish history. In this particular photo you can find many hidden treasures. In this small room of the prison is where two prisoners were hung to death and what you see in this photo is the lever that is pulled to open the floor below. You can also see the broken up brick beyond the window of the prison where the prisoners once worked during their sentence.

I think it is what you can see in the light and what you can't see hidden, in the darkness but what is left to the imagination is what makes this image powerful...and a good one for the theme.
