I took this shot a couple of years ago on the trail near the top of Mt. Ascutney, VT. I was really amazed by this tough tree and how it has withstood many winters of heavy snow and storms. It is pretty strange in shape with large bumps around its' joints. My use of gnarly here is to mean cool or awesome. My goal was to create something to convey the very rough texture of the bark. Something you can look at and feel that if you touch the screen, you think you will actually feel it.
I love the colors.
The Big Picture is the best view.

I love old, gnarly trees, or those that stand alone in the midst of the wilderness. Trees have such character and each one has a story to tell. You've certainly caught this one.
