Sometimes magic can happen right along the roadside. Oddly enough, I photographed the mare summer before last, a photo called "Sweetness Among the Prickly Poppies." I had not seen this mare for at least a year in the pastures where I used to see her, and here she is with her beautiful foal. This is the first equine photo I am taking with my new 70-200 Canon L F4 IS USM lens. I bought that lens particularly for horse photography to avoid distortion. So far, I am really loving the lens. It's very lightweight! Not any heavier than my Canon EF 18-200 lens that I bought when I got my 50D. By the way, I brake for horses by the roadside quite often.
