There's a great barn along Interstate 80 near Wyanet, Illinois. Its classic shape next to a windmill makes for an iconic image. I tried to gain access to the barn by approaching it from the rear, but the landowner has a gate across the road. He was on an all-terrain vehicle with this daughter when I pulled up. I asked him if I could drive out to the barn. He said no for liability reasons (always a fricking legal issue!). So I headed back out to Interstate 80 and climbed the hillside to get some shots. This is looking east toward the barn.
The Bureau County Museum informed me that this barn was designed and built by Elmer Peterson in 1941. There is an article about the barn in the Bureau County Republican newspaper written by Donna Barker on June 26, 2001. This land was inherited (or bought) by Elmer Peterson from his father-in-law.
The land is currently owned by Paul Nordstrom.
