A: Do you know?

I worked in my back yard today some and added some household veggie scraps to my compost pile. I add compost to my gardens to enrich the soil. The plants and flowers like the composted soil. I was serenaded while I was outside by a mockingbird. It sang every song that it knows. My Duranta - the dead looking bush after the birdhouses and before the side fence, is beginning to show life now. The birds like that bush as it puts out purple blooms that turn into yellow berries. They like the berries and they like the safety that the bush provides from cats and other predators.

We have a huge compost pile that my husband built, and we get the very best soil from it. We keep a small container on the kitchen counter to collect all vegetable matter which then goes out to the compost pile. All of the plants love it! I love working in the yard and listening to the birds singing too! Wonderful photo, Ann!

My mother-in-law when she was alive used to have a compost pile for her gardens and she had the most beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens I had ever seen...Everything grew abundantly for her...We always said she had a green thumb. Wonderful photo and I am glad you are still making use of self portraits to include yourself in the scene which I think adds to the picture.

I have two huge compost piles and add to them daily. Compost is the only fertilizer I use and I don't know how I could grow any vegetables without it. Nice shot

Your yard is so beautiful Ann. All that is missing is that new pool. We had a compost box when I was little for our big vegetable garden. We had terrific vegetables. Too bad I am not big on them. LOL. Great SP!!!!

A great way to recycle natural ingredients. So much better than commercial fertilizers. Good for you, Ann. Nice shot.
