This was my own personal turning point..
Not long after my first scan came back clear of cancer, I climbed alone up this mountainside in Co. Kerry. It was tough going as I was still weakened from weeks in a hospital bed and full of chemo and radiation, but I was determined to get up as far as I could..
When I reached this point and looked out over this beautiful valley I was bombarded by many different emotions..
I have never felt so alive, I cried, I laughed, I jumped up and down shouting and cheering ( thank God there was noone to see).
I felt an overwhelming sense of pride, I had battled cancer and come out the other side and here I was "on top of the world"
I felt strong like I could now do and achieve anything. Felt like I could just step of the edge and soar out over the valley, thankfully I resisted that urge lol..
As I headed back down I knew that my whole life had changed, nothing would ever be the same, I was going to LIVE every moment of every day..
Now more than a year later everything is still looking good, I have two more years of tests and scans before I get a final all clear, my outlook on life has changed dramatically and I will never forget my day on the mountain..

That is a true life changing "turning point". It makes my entry to that theme seem wimpy now! Your story brought tears to my eyes. Cancer has touch many of my loved ones and I have lost so many of them to cancer. I lost my mom to cancer and it broke my heart for her die as young as she was.

Congratulations on beating that awful illness. I celebrate and rejoice with you, and pray that your life will be free of it. Thanks for sharing this personal story with us! It truly is so inspirational. This is a beautiful capture of that valley from the top of the mountain. I love that a piece of the mountain shows clear and bright in contrast to the slightly out of focus view of the valley. Very symbolic and artistic!

As a cancer survivor myself, I totally relate to your mountain. Yea for you. I totally get it. It is life changing, and not for the worst. Life is short, so LIVE everybody, as if there was no tomorrow. Each moment is all any of us ever really have.. Make them count. Oh, and take time to relax. By the way, my husband is a surivior, too. We cheer for you!!!!

What an absolutely wonderful shot and reason .. the narrative is smack on the mark on the feelings and emotions. (We husbands of cancer survivors go through very similar feelings) This photo is a perfect example of the old saying 'A picture is worth a thousand words.' The highs, the lows, the closeness of 'the edge' and the far distance of the future at the horizon. So glad you are a survivor!
