This is my father who has Alzheimer's. He was the one who saved me from thunderstorms and scary dreams. Took me camping across the country. An amazing photographer, A lover of great beer and fine wines. He loved and knew so much about the Irish culture. Knew all the names of trains and planes, what kind they were and what they were used for. He has traveled the world and back and can now remember just bits and pieces of his travels. He had the best stories about the everything. He could help you with your car when it broke down and gave me millions of rides. I know he is still here, but I still miss the man he used to be. My heart breaks that he doesn't know me anymore. Anyone who suffers from Alzheimer's is a Hero in my book.

Awesome shot of this distinguished gentleman, Kate. My dad succumbed in 2004 from this dreaded disease. But, I was so proud of him. He hung in there until the very end.
