I took this photo using my mother's digital camera and because I am never happy with the range of contrast achieved on digital B&W cameras I have altered the Contrast and Sharpness ....

Beautiful tones and colors. I think the contrast lends a medieval air to it...wonderful.

I agree with you about the range of tones, and I nearly always adjust them.
