A very old (commissioned in 1905) and very busy railway station, the Howrah Railway Station is all hustle and bustle 24 X 7 - almost. For seen at night from the Hoogly River that flows alongside it offers an entirely dirfferent picture - quiet, majestic and gleaming in the night-lights.

This heritage station along with the Howrah Bridge are to culture and tradition of Kolkata what the London Bridge and Buckingham Palace are to London.
