My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing unto thee among the nations... Psalm 57: 7
----------------------------

Whilst adults wait
For passing flies
(They are not bait
If they are walking,)
But known to them
In terms of hawking...
They sing their hymn
"Phoe-be...Phoe-be"
To babies squawking,
"Feed me...Feed me"
Who hear their name
Sung in loving words...
It fixes the heart
As adult birds
Do their part
And hunt for game.
Poetry by me, AJP
-----------------------------

These little guys are ready to leave the nest in about two days...I just found them today under the eaves of our front porch...They are so sweet and trusting without fear at this age...I wish them a happy and safe journey as they fly out of their nest to greet the world.

Yes, the adult birds really do sing "Phoe-be" repeating it over and over. I think they want their name to be heard loud and clear.

Wow, this is amazing nature shot, Andrea! I'm just wondering how you know that they will be gone soon. Btw, I love your poetry.

Thanks to all for the comments...Litz, you wondered how I know that they will be gone soon...just judging by the size of them...When they get too big for the nest they have no choice but to leave. I hope that I will be able to catch their first efforts trying to fly!
