Near our garden's statue of St. Francis my wife has been scattering left-over cereals for our bird and squirrel population. We found one of our resident grey foxes scarfing up on the goodies a few afternoons ago. This is the third year a mated pair have denned up on our property, which is surprisingly urban although situated on a creek. This year they have a youngster in tow as well. This critter is incredibly beautiful, and very wild. He/she heard me shooting but didn't seem to locate me (I didn't move) where I was shooting from, our front porch. We leave water our in the summer as well; our creek dries up from about June until the first heavy rains, usually October of November. I think St. Francis would approve.

Turns out, there are at least two pups (cubs, kits?) and maybe a third adult, perhaps one-year old from last year.

He (the fox) is beautiful, and getting the photo must have taken lots of patients and quiet, or a very long lens ;) I do agree, St. Francis would agree and is protecting the whole family.

I think St Francis would most certainly approve Richard. Wild animals are adapting, sadly, to their habitats being taking over by urbanisation.
