Ellis Island.
These stairs dictated the life of the new arriving immigrants.

The left side was approved to enter NYC.

The right side was approved to catch a train to outer America.

The center was for people that failed the test, health,mental stability, physical ability. They would be sent to the holding rooms for reevaluation or deportation.

These stairs had lined walls until 1957.
