My Favourite fence from Strand, South Africa, once again.....a lot of people have got more than one deviation in their galleries of the exact same location, with the exact same composition, just different weather.and i hate that so i try to avoid that....this is a 7 minute exposure......i lost my damn circ. pol filter for this photo... so please give it a :+fav: to make me feel better. just joking(but i did really lose my filter:)) the lights are Cape Town, South Africa....
some FAQ's on this. It's not sunset, this was taken at midnite, it's a city 80km(about 50miles) away. The colour fade is due to low hanging clouds in the middle of the photo that kept the light from getting to the left side.i brightened the right side up, a lot by: brightening the whole photo up with levels, curves, the RAW tool exposure, and decreasing the black of whites(for that pure white flare)with selective colour.then i opened the original again and blended the two with a gradient mask.all in cs3:)

This is really beautiful. I'm curious of you method to get the long exposure when its still fairly bright out. Even at a low iso with high f-stop I wouldnt think you'd get this. Neutral density filters maybe??
either way, I love it. :) -

circ. pol. filter got rid of the glare and i reduced the blackness of the white wiht photoshop's selective colour tool.....and i know you people on jpg are against editing but i believe photography strives towards representing the world on a 2 dimensional plain as we see it with our eye.
and sometimes we have to manipulate the image our camera produces to achieve that which the human eye
sees. we may never imitate the dimensions of human vision, but with modern technology we can attain
the lighting and colours. thats my own definition what modern digital photography is -

even the great master printers of the past "manipulated" the final print in a similar way, they just did it all in a darkroom, dodging and burning etc , so photohop manipulation to produce what the human eyes sees to produce a masterpiece is ok.
Where is this ?? Absolutle beauty, well done -

I really like this pic, I love the colors and the composition but it is really hard for me to grasp an emotion from it, I can't really define what I feel when I look at it. Can you tell me what is the emotion you were going for?

I agree 100% with you on photoshopping. I dont understand why many people look down on post processing. To me it is a digital darkroom and as long as you dont go too out of control, It is perfectly fine.

amazing colors. I don't think your form of manipulation is what JPG is talking about. They don't want obvious teen/photoshop editing.
