Q: In Need of Inspiration in Tampa and Surrounding Areas

A: Do you know?

This is a photograph of Sidd the Travelin Buddha resting comfortably in a tree located at the site of an abandoned missle silo in Topeka Kansas. There were numerous abandoned missle silos strewn about the stark countryside of Topeka Kansas and this was perhaps one of the smaller sites that I was able to find. The Dhammapada (Words of Wisdom) remind us that, Know this, O good man, that evil things are uncontrollable. Let not greed and wickedness drag you into suffering for a long time. This is one of my favorite passages from the Dhammapada which are words spoken by the Buddha himself and passed down through the ages. It reminds us that evil is indeed uncontrollable and to be wary of and not let the wickedness and evil of the world take hold of us and cause us to suffer for a long time. For if we give into the negative thoughts and actions that society and culture forces upon us, we will no doubt be sucked into the storm and will suffer for quite a while until we endeavor to learn and follow the true teachings of the World Honored One.

Nice earthy bower to sit upon, with the sun twinkling on the green moss and leaves. Glad the site had been abandoned.

I love the monochrome of this, but the really amazing thing is the tree itself: its heft and power are evident, and the way it cradles is beautiful.

and I thought it was in b&W until I saw the green moss. Love the tree texture and of course, Sidd comfortably sitting on it. Sidd looks big here. Nice pov, Steven.
