A towering cataract pours into a rocky canyon in the village of Nesso along Italy’s Lago di Como. The stream runs into Lake Como.
Nesso was the motif-rich centerpiece of a visit to Lake Como. It is a rough-hewn landscape that descends from the level of the main road, with colorful stucco, stone, and timber houses along the winding stepped pathways leading to the lake shore.
The photograph was taken on Ilford Pan 400 film on a late autumn afternoon, a favorite time that allows the light and long shadows to delineate Nesso’s many textures.
