And they cast lots, ward against ward, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar...1 Chronicles 25:8

Rusk County Historical Society Museum
I scanned this existing light print of the Little Red School House that I shot with my film Canon T.60 camera at Ladysmith, Wisconsin in 1995... My mother, sister and I had an interesting time touring this museum that day.. I remember I did not want to use flash and just went with the existing light that came from the windows using manual focus opening up to F/2.8 with a 50 mm CanonFD lens..If I remember correctly I used ISO 400 film.
I discovered that Wikipedia has now listed this wonderful museum in their site at the following link which has more information about the museum...

The scan seems to accentuate the distance in time, as does the natural light. I like the contrast of the wood-burner and the electric fan.
Comparing my Altaville School story, so much is the same -- desk, bell, flag, wood-burning stove.
Nice picture!! -

Susan said it right! My grandmother had a woodstove like that one in her tiny kitchen.

Thanks everyone for your kind words...In the lower grades I attended classes in a two-room school house from the ist grade to the 4th before a new school was built with indoor plumbing, running water and a much needed lunch room. The Little Red School House reminds me of the 1st school I went to where we shared a common dipper to drink water from an old time fountain, etc. Of course we also shared the germs of catching each others colds:))
