You need a lot of luck to get a nice "S" shape like this - for the slightest breeze will distort the flame and make it fat and squat while too still the air gives just a boring, vertical flame.
Shot outside a small Tibetan Temple in Singapore (near the Jalan Besar Sports and Swimming Complex).

Ha ha! I was lucky :) Spent maybe 20 minutes or so shooting various things there, and maybe only about 4 or 5 shots of the flame. But I ever try shooting candle / oil lamp flames many times and usually they don't look nice.
