It was 32 degrees and there was a wonderful fog rising from this mountain lake. I sent Anne to a nearby house to change while I secured the canoe to a small dock. Anne returned in this beautiful tutu and I asked her to step into the canoe as I held it steady. I pushed her away from the dock as the sun was beginning to burn away the fog. She paddled into position and crawled from the back of the canoe to the center.
She steadied herself...and the boat...and started to rise....the canoe tipped and she quickly dropped to her knees. I suddenly wondered if she could swim! She gathered her nerves and began to stand again...the canoe was wobbling and then 12 years of training took over as she carefully balanced and created this beautiful arabesque!
