This historic building was a very important part of my early years. My grandfather, father, and uncle all worked here in their firefighting careers. My grandfather began working here in 1923, and continued there throughout his career, until he passed in 1955. My father and uncle each began his career here, and moved on to other divisions until their retirements. I spent some happy hours here being spoiled by the firefighters. The building was considered to be outdated, and was scheduled for razing in the '70s. There was a battle between firefighters and City of Tampa officials. A compromise was reached, and it has been renovated and converted to a firefighters museum.

Beautiful.....both the memories and the building! I always appreciate it when they restore rather than raze pieces of history.
