In the 40s and 50s Kress was a very busy dime store in downtown Tampa, which was the main shopping district in town. Kress was one of the grandest buildings in Tampa. Since then, it has been surrounded by newer highrises and office buildings which dwarf it, and almost hide it.

A rose among the thorns! Really fits "Juxtaposition" too.

I agree with Don, except the contrasting architecture makes for a wonderful shot.

Love how the old buildings still stand out among the 'concrete and steel.' They were built to last. Love the scalloped lintil/lentil? Duh! Not sure how to spell it! the thingie above the arched windows. A good juxtoposition Judy.

I think the tall buildings should not be allowed to cover the smaller historic ones. You can hardly see the Alamo in San Antonio. This is a terrific shot.

I agree with Donald...this would fit the Juxtaposition theme perfectly...Great shot and composition!
