Kampong Khleang on Tonle Sap lake, also known as the Great Lake of Cambodia, is one of many scattered villages which although anchored, float on the waters of this great mass of water.
There is something magical about Kampong Khleang as it seems always to be covered in a veil of mist, as if hidden from the rest of the world. As you steer through and around it's scattered clusters of makeshift buildings, you get the feeling of being forgotten. As if each paddle was taking you further from reality and closer to an eternity of endless floating sans direction.
The solitary homes take on a life of their own. Like human beings, they adopt their own identity, their own characted as they sit far from the main village and bask in the warming Cambodian sun.
In the Dreams of Kampong Khleang photo essay.
