jen bellefleur gave props (9 Sep 2010):

her name was mercury and she never really thought anything of it until one day the bauble her mother had given her a tiny glass perfume vial with a bead of liquid silver perfect and when shaken shattered into tiny droplets then found each other made a whole again but when the glass hit the tile floor just right it shattered and she reached out her tiny finger to chase the silver bead across the silken surface her mother turned and shrieked and sent her tumbling backwards tumbling and then explained that it was poison it could never be touched only kept in glass and looked at and then she knew why her name was mercury
